The Order of Jacob's Well was founded by a group of lay and ordained Christians involved in the Christian healing ministry in south Wales. These days it can be found throughout England, Scotland and Wales, and is expanding worldwide. The Order of Jacob's Well is fully ecumenical in terms of both its membership and its outreach.

The Order is funded by a registered charity and authorised through its Leader to its Leadership Board and a Bishop Visitor, the Rt Revd Dominic Walker of Monmouth. It is under the gracious Patronage of Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury .
