Day 16 - Weeding the Highway
Along life's highway to heaven you must be watchful for slippery paths underneath your feet that might force you to leave the path, much against your will. You will be safe if you recognise these places and traps before you stumble into them.
But if you did not know the difference between flowers and weeds, you would not be fit to take care of a garden. No one would put you in charge of it and you would feel somewhat uncomfortable and inadequate if they did! It is simply not enough to have the truth of God's word planted in your mind. You must learn about these weeds and work to keep the ground clear of nettles and brambles, foolish mistakes and more deliberate errors, which have a wicked likelihood of choking the word of life in you.
But you should never be discouraged with yourself; it is not when you become conscious of your own faults that you are at your most sinful: on the contrary, you are rising away from these things again: you are seeing by a brighter light.
And remember this, when your soul is in need of strengthening again, that we never become aware of our sins until the moment He begins to lift them up and wash them.
