Day 3 - The Closest Possible Relationship With God

There is one very good reason why obeying the Word of God blesses us even more than being the mother of Jesus; spiritual matters are higher than physical ones.

Two spiritual relations are closer to each other than two natural relations. Having a brother in Jesus is a closer relationship than having a sibling brother. A brother or sister in the Spirit is more of a loved one than would be another son or daughter of our own parents.

Being in obedient harmony with God makes you one with him. That is the sum of how Jesus was one with the Father. Mary was Jesus' mother in the flesh, but God's children enjoy that sort of relationship with him in the spirit.

As Jesus was one day talking to a listening crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, waiting for an opportunity to talk to him. The story goes on,

Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you." He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother." Matthew 12:47 - 50

If you are wanting to stretch your life up through to the highest achievable state of holiness, you should be continuously studying the Bible and should carefully ensure that you walk in harmony with all its precepts. And be sure to read it and understand it in the same spirit in which it was written!

Doing this will bring you into the closest possible relationship with God and will turn your life into the best one you can live.
