Day 13 - Miracles
Throwing out the view and understanding that the kingdom is a place packed with miracles only makes sense if we say there is no such thing as a miracle or at least that the kingdom is a spent force in the world today.
For the Christian disciple there is simply no argument here; he or she can only point out that this is a purely philosophical question. Scholars, theologians and proponents of prayer speak about this with no more authority than the ordinary man in the street.
By definition, their view of these things is one that they bring with them to their study of the texts, not one they have learned from it.
They may well sound as if they are talking to us with authority, but the combined authority of all the Biblical students and experienced believers in the world put together counts for very little. On this subject they speak simply as carnal human beings - people heavily influenced by, and possibly only halfway critical of, the spirit of the age in which they live.
