Day 24 - The Driver

What is it that drives Christians so? What is it that takes us out of our little local shells and sets our feet on the highways and byways of life, Gospel in hand, to be of service to others?

It is a very holy thing. It is nothing short of the same divine spirit of compassion that drove Jesus out of the synagogues and onto the open road. In the main it was there that he found the sick and the suffering, the lame and the oppressed, and he healed them all.

Perhaps it is time for us all to throw off the smothering blanket of our negative memories of unanswered prayer, of ineffectual ministry, and allow that joyful Christ-spirit of compassion within to rise up and to go out, bearing the good news to those who stand in need of it.
