Day 27 - Building on Failure

Do I love my Lord enough to die for him? I must admit that I do not know, and I do not know if that question will ever be tested. I know that it seemed too much for Peter at the time and how deeply he paid the price of remorse and shame in stepping back.

But there is redemption; always there is redemption. The lives of martyrs are redeemed as they are bought for heaven by the cross; the lives of those of us who continually fail that same cross may live a little longer on this earth but even that failure may be redeemed.

Christ has built a whole church on the back of Peter, what can he do on mine?
