There is a new wind of expectancy blowing through the world of Christian healing and it is one of anticipation that God wants to give us a profound experience of his ability to powerfully heal those with physical diseases. The question is not so much "Will God do it?" but "Are we ready to see it happen amongst us?"

Naturally there are dangers, such as people being made to feel inferior because they did not receive the cure they were expecting. Horror stories abound of people being told that their faith was faulty in some way or that there was some spiritual blockage in their family background. This wrongly suggests that God's power to heal is limited.

The opposite mistake is to be so uncomfortable with miracles and power that we reduce Christian healing to little more than comforting the sick with good hope of endurance and the promise of eternity where all our sicknesses will cease. In so doing we reduce Jesus to a passive carer, rather than the Son of God who heals the sick and casts out demons.

To be true to our calling we must be open to the mighty acts of God's power to heal every sickness, as well as being ready to live with sometimes not seeing the healing we so much want. This is the life of risky faith, which Mike Endicott calls us to embrace, and in so doing, to follow Jesus on the adventure of healing power.
